Our key speciality in dentistry is orthodontics and dento facial orthopaedics. The most important aspect of dentistry is facial aesthetics. We do that by taking advantage of orthodontics and dento facial orthopaedics, orthognathic surgery, preceded by pre surgical orthodontics, lingualorthodontics, aligners etc
Orthodontics is Correction of irregular and Proclined.
This is mainly aimed at correction/improvement of appearance and function by moving teeth within the jaws. Dento facial orthopaedics is a specialised branch of orthodontics where corrections are done in the development of jaws using growth modulation techniques. This kind of correction is possible only in growing individuals. This method of correction is needed in situations where either one or more of the two jaws are contributing to the abnormal appearance of the face.
Surgical Orthodontics
After growth completion jaw abnormalities (related to bone) remaining can only be / mainly be corrected by surgical method. This surgery may involve one or two jaws. The surgery is done after proper planning and discussion with all concerned specialists. The procedure is often done in a medical hospital.
Surgical orthodontics / pre surgical orthodontics is often done after proper planning to make the surgical procedure simpler and to improve the facial appearance after surgery.
TAD supported Orthodontics
TADs are attachments place on the jaws to increase the expression of orthodontics. They make more abnormalities be corrected by orthodontics. Many abnormalities that could only be corrected previously by surgery, can now be corrected by orthodontic compensation using TADs
TADs can be combined with regular labial orthodontics and also with lingual orthodontics
Lingual Orthodontics
One of the main limitations of adult orthodontics is the visibility of the orthodontic appliance itself. So, we introduced lingual orthodontics in our clinic. We are the first clinic to introduce Lingual Orthodontic in routine dental practice in Kerala. This method is also known as Invisible Orthodontics as the appliance itself is completely invisible.
As previously mentioned lingual Orthodontics is the only completely Invisible orthodontic appliance now clinically used. But we also have other options like shell appliance and ceramic brackets.
Shell like aligners is readily available in the market now. These are good for alignment and can be successfully used in cases where low level corrections are needed. Moreover though they are clear in color is only unnoticeable. They are not invisible. We do lot of aligners, in cases that require only alignment.
Ceramic brackets can deliver a good range of correction, but they have the limitation that, they are not in visible. Although clear in colour they are visible. These brackets being made of a brittle material can break under stress during teeth movement. Lingual brackets are absolutely invisible and they perform better than normal braces. Earlier versions of lingual braces were bulky and used to interfere with speech and used to cause tongue irritation. But recent versions are absolutely problem free and is easily accommodated by all.
